Rochester City Newspaper: Interkosmos - Jim Becker (from Califone) and Colleen Burke (she plays piano in Bug Jar faves We Ragazzi) have fashioned a score of celestial ’70s Teutonic electronica that blends perfectly with the images in a new film, Interkosmos, about an East German mission to settle the moons of Jupiter and Saturn.

Chicago Reader: Strike Up The Band - The next 12 months will be different, though: the band [is] preparing at least one new disc in their Deceleration series of silent-film sound tracks, as well as Everybody’s Mother Volume 2, a follow-up to a limited-edition odds-and-sods collection that front man Tim Rutili sold while on tour with Calexico and Iron & Wine last year.

CMJ: Califone New LP In October - The album, primarily recorded at 4Deuces studio in Chicago, was completed a few weeks ago, according to band member Ben Massarella.

Coke Machine Glow: Review - Reemerging after a nearly three-year hiatus, Tim Rutili manages to capture a beauty on Roots & Crowns that, while perhaps not surprising given his 14-year winning streak, never ceases to amaze.

Chi-Town Daily News: Califone Home - Entitled Roots & Crowns, Tim Rutili and crew, formerly of blues rock legends Red Red Meat, look to top 2004’s critically acclaimed Heron King Blues. This will be their eighth release as Califone and their third for Thrill Jockey.

Pitchforkmedia: Califone on Stop Smiling Comp - A press release explains the concept behind the compilation: “Eight artists, the same song, all exclusive.” All eight artists are on Thrill Jockey, and the song they have recorded is the British song “Underneath the Arches,” hence the title.

Pitchforkmedia: Rutili Dominates Soundtracks - Rutili also wrote the score and an original song, “Dreamless”, for the independent film The Lost, based on a Jack Ketchum novel. The Lost’s soundtrack also features the song “Dowser” from Rutili’s old band, Red Red Meat.
